How will my ICBC car insurance change in 2022?

“How will my ICBC car insurance change in 2022?”

As ICBC works to streamline the auto insurance experience, significant changes are expected to be announced, effective in Spring of 2022.

Exact details have not been publicized, but your Allwest Renewal Experts are already anticipating these updates and are ready to deliver clarity.

Get Ready for Online Insurance in BC

ICBC is developing an online insurance system, so customers will be able to log in to renew their personal auto insurance and to get temporary operating permits, (with some restrictions).

It is likely that the online model will only be self-serve for simple renewals. If your coverage requires changes, an insurance broker will need to help. Your Allwest Broker will still be your source for reviewing or upgrading coverage, understanding your options and getting you any discounts or savings you are entitled to.

ICBC is completing regulatory and technical work and consulting with B.C.’s broker community to implement these online services

“How will I get my ICBC Decals?” Don’t worry, Allwest still delivers.

License plate decals will not change. Allwest DOOR2DOOR service will still deliver your insurance papers and decals to almost any location in BC’s Lower Mainland, From Abbotsford to Lions Bay.

In the future, ICBC is considering changes that may see decals be valid for more than one year, or eventually not be required at all. One day your license plate may be linked to a database that holds your registration and insurance expiry date information.

Whatever happens, Allwest will be there to deliver clarity and the best local ICBC advice for Lower Mainland drivers. That’s one thing that will never change.
